PILGRIMAGE TO TORONTO MONASTERY

On Thursday, 22 October 2010, Abbot James, Dom Joseph, Father Daniel, and Sister Sophia made a day’s pilgrimage to the Romanian Holy Cross Orthodox Monastery in Toronto , where they were warmly welcomed by Archimandrite Nicolas and Father Madarie.

The monks visited the very handsomely furbished chapel and venerated the icons and relics. The relics were in a beautifully decorated wooden casket or chest.

After praying together the noon hour, the monastics enjoyed a light lunch with animated conversation. Among the topics was the difficulties of living the monastic life in an urban setting and the desirability of a more rural and contemplative monastery. Sister Sophia brought a cake she baked for the occasion.

The monastics of Christminster are most grateful for the warmth and friendliness of the hospitality of Father Nicolas and his deacon Father Madarie.

I don’t know if anyone followed up with you but if they have not let us know. Christminster is happy to receive overnight visitors but they need some advance notice. If you are local drop by at the attached Our Lady of Glastonbury Church. Typically Mass begins at 10 AM Sundays. Can I be of help in any other way?
